About Us
We are a team of farming and food service professionals driven by a vision to close the loop and bring our local food systems full circle.
Our Mission
We are committed to providing a reliable, efficient, and high-quality composting service without compromising on safety or sustainability. Our goal is to deliver exceptional service, fair pricing, and outstanding customer care, building long-term relationships beyond a single job.
Circular Farmacy was founded on the belief that composting doesn’t require fuel-hungry machinery or long-distance transportation with high carbon footprints. Instead, we compost on a human scale—transforming food waste into nutrient-rich compost that replenishes our local environment and keeps the cycle going. Join us in reducing landfill waste and creating a healthier community in the Finger Lakes.

Why Compost With Us?
At Circular Farmacy Compost, we take composting to the next level by using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae, one of nature’s most efficient decomposers. Unlike traditional composting methods, our process is faster, more sustainable, and produces zero methane emissions—helping to reduce your environmental footprint while transforming food waste into a valuable resource.
What Makes Us Different?
– Ultra-Efficient Composting – BSF larvae break down food waste up to 10x faster than traditional composting methods.
– Minimal Carbon Footprint – No fuel-hungry machinery, no long-distance transport—just a local, low-impact solution.
– Nutrient-Rich Soil Amendment – The byproducts of our process create high-quality compost and natural fertilizers that enrich the soil.
– Sustainable & Circular – Our method closes the loop by turning food waste into beneficial nutrients that return to the earth.
– Odor & Pest Reduction – Unlike conventional compost piles, BSF composting minimizes odors and deters common pests.
By choosing us, you’re not just keeping food waste out of landfills—you’re actively participating in a regenerative solution that nourishes the planet. Let’s build a more sustainable future together, one bucket at a time!

The Journey Of Your Compost
- Food Waste Collection – We collect food scraps from residential and commercial customers and transport them to our composting shed, ensuring proper handling to maintain nutrient integrity.
- Pre-Digestion Process – The collected food waste undergoes a pre-digestion phase, where it is broken down into a form that optimizes nutrient availability for Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae consumption. This step accelerates decomposition and enhances microbial activity.
- Larvae Consumption & Bioconversion – The pre-digested food waste is fed to our BSF larvae, which are capable of consuming up to twice their body weight daily. These voracious decomposers can reduce food scrap volume by up to 80%, rapidly converting organic waste into nutrient-rich biomass with minimal greenhouse gas emissions.
- Separation of Larvae & Frass – Once the larvae have completed the breakdown process, they are sifted from the frass (a valuable byproduct composed of insect castings and digested organic matter). This ensures that both components are prepared for their respective uses in sustainable agriculture and animal nutrition.
- Frass Processing & Soil Enrichment – The collected frass is packaged and returned to the local ecosystem as a potent, organic fertilizer rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and beneficial microbes. This soil amendment enhances plant growth and soil health, closing the loop in sustainable food systems.
- Larvae Harvesting & Processing – Just before entering the pupation stage, the larvae are dehydrated and packaged as a high-protein, nutrient-dense feed supplement for poultry, reptiles, and other livestock. This provides a sustainable alternative to traditional feed sources, reducing reliance on resource-intensive protein production.
